Today We are going to talk about green tea and some of its associated myths. Green tea, a very popular form of tea in China, has been very well adopted by other countries in the world. 


There are claims about green tea being almost a miracle cure for aging, or obesity, or skin problems, or cancer. But how much truth do these claims really carry is the trending question right now.

What do we actually know about green tea?


1. Green tea has more antioxidants than black tea Yes, this claim is right! Although black tea and green tea are both resources of antioxidants, green tea does have more antioxidants than black tea


This is because black tea is usually oxidized to get a dark color. Antioxidants are really a buzzword these days. 


Although green tea has more antioxidants than black tea, what these antioxidants do in the body and how they actually work is really a mystery. 


2. It is claimed that green tea promotes cardiovascular health. Yes, this has been claimed by some scientific studies, but all these studies are in their very initial stages. 


Now let’s debunk some of the myths about green tea


3. Green tea and black tea come from different plants. This is not true. Green tea and black tea both come from the same plant.


4. Green tea has less caffeine than black tea. Again this statement might not always be true. Green and black tea both come from the same plant, and therefore they both have caffeine. 


How much caffeine, depends on the variety of tea, how it is processed, and how it is finally brewed in your kitchens. 


Therefore it is wrong to generalize that green tea has less caffeine than black tea


5. It is safe to drink large amounts of green tea. Sometimes people might think that because green tea is a very good source of antioxidants, they can drink it like a fish. 


However, you must also remember that green tea also has caffeine in it, too much of which might not really be good for you. 


6. Green tea prevents hair loss and cancer. These claims have really not been confirmed and carry no serious scientific backing. 


7. Green tea promotes rapid fat loss. Now, this is a very popular myth about green tea and an equally debatable topic in the scientific world. 


There is very less consensus on the practical benefits of green tea, and if at all it really promotes weight loss in the body. 


As we said before, it is very unclear how the antioxidants in green tea actually work in the human body. 


Not to say there aren’t any health benefits, but when headlines call out green tea to be a miracle cure for obesity, or skin problems, or different allergies, or cancer, it is time to step back and take a skeptical perspective. 


If you really enjoy your green tea, sure go ahead and drink a few cups of it in a day. 


There are various reasons why green tea is assumed to be the healthiest beverage in the world. Green tea is extremely popular for its use in improving brain function, reducing unwanted weight, lowering the risk of heart diseases, and providing protection againt cancer.


In research, it has been found that Green Tea has some rare bioactive compounds which contribute a lot to providing a healthy and prolonged life. 


There is a compound name EGCG which stands for epigallocatechin-3-gallate, this compound helps in reducing cell damage along with various other diseases. 


EGCG helps in reducing the formation of free radicals in the body which indirectly protects cells and molecules from inner damage. It is found that these free radicals are responsible for aging and some other diseases.


Minerals are also a part of Green tea, they are also found in an adequate amount and you all know that how minerals are important for us.


It is also important to check out the quality of the Green Tea at the time of purchasing it because some of the green tea is found to have an abnormal amount of fluoride in it. Cheap and low-quality green tea is mostly found to have an enormous amount of fluoride in it. 


This is not extremely harmful but it can harm you if consume it for a long term or a long duration of time. Always select a trusted brand after doing research and then buy only the authentic green tea because you may never know the complacent and the fraud waiting for you in the market.


Most people in the world use Green Tea for weight loss. Using Green Tea for weight loss has become a trend nowadays and there is a reason behind it, green tea has various medicinal properties which promote weight loss and increase fat and calorie burning rate in the body.


Various ladies and women include green tea in their diet to initiate fat loss from their bodies in order to have a fit and slim body shape or figure.


Green tea is also becoming popular for removing bad breath, the catechins which are present in green tea are found to be beneficial for improving overall oral health. So, next time you should try Green tea when you feel some bad smell oozing from your mouth.


But it’s funny when people think that the Chinese look slim and young because of their magical green tea. This statement is really an over-implication of the truth
